The Lodge at Koele - Lana`i, Hawaii614 viewsLocated in the "highlands" of Lana`i, with a gorgeous jacaranda tree. Marjorie and I spent an afternoon by the pool, never thinking that the sun was actually going to burn us. The cool, upcountry air tricked us --- we were both quite sunburned.

Path by the Duckweed Pond613 viewsPretty flowers growing in the path by the duckweed pond. Kiko loves to toss his ball into the duckweed, and then try (always unsuccessfully) to retrieve it.

Repairing the Non-Return Valve - Whitecroft Track613 viewsWe had problems on Friday and Saturday because, without notice, Severn Trent needed to replace the non-return sewer valve. Apparently they couldn't inspect it in March because they couldn't open the manhole cover. But nothing was done, until our neighbour's house flooded with sewage. Looks like this guy got the manhole cover open! July 29 2005

Olympic Ski Slopes -- Sestiere613 viewsThe ski slopes looked gorgeous, the seating stands looked enormous, but we were on our way to the luge in Cesana Pariol.

Me Taking A Photo of My Puffy Pants613 viewsI'd put on my Northern Face down-insulated pants and my foot cast and it was all quite funny. I tried to take a photo of the stylish combination using a mirror in our hotel room. I think the look on Marjorie's face is funny -- sort of quiet resignation.

A Fig613 viewsNothing tastes better than a fresh fig. We have six fig trees at Whitecroft, and when the summer is warm and dry the figs are wonderful. When it's damp, we think about moving to somewhere warm.
