An Iron Age Pigvista 17697 vecesThis 11 or 12 year old pig is a cross between an Iron Age pig (which itself is a cross between a Tamworth pig and a wild boar) and a Gloucester Old Spot pig. While she looks fat, she is incredibly fast.

Berkshire Pigletsvista 17162 vecesWe bought Fairoaks Mermaid 4 as a pedigree Berkshire sow in gilt. The sellers, the Bignells, told us her possible farrowing date was May 26. On the appointed date, along came the piglets. This photograph was taken just after they were born.

A Berkshire Pigvista 15901 vecesWe once raised Gloucester Old Spot pigs -- until everyone started doing it. I could never understand why the GOS pig had been bred so that its ears covered its eyes. With the Berkshire pig, the ears stand up and the pig is quite majestic.

Lord Rannoch of Luciesvista 15484 vecesLord Rannoch is getting on in years, and suffers from arthritis. We're moving him from the back barn into the stable block where we can keep a closer eye on him. While he is slow when he walks, he does get up and walk around periodically, and was happy to follow the feed bucket to the stable block.

Tamworth Enjoying Mud Bathvista 14470 vecesShe's about to be moved to her "new" field --- covered with grass --- to give us time to renew this pig field with special pig-resistant grass from Hurrell's. But, in the meantime, time for a nice mud bath.

Young Gloucester Bullvista 12608 vecesThis is Betty's young bull calf. He's quite stubborn: Betty calls him from across the field, and while he'll stand up, he waits for her to come to him.
