The View from Our Boat Stop1028 viewsDar Al Masyaf villas in Dubai. We moved from one place to another in the small boats.

Madinat Souk At Night931 viewsThe streaks in the water are the lights from the small water taxis.

Dar Al Masyaf - Night Time898 viewsThis is the view from our "boat stop" on the canal system at the Dar Al Masyaf villas. To get to dinner we waited for a boat to pick us up. The ride to the souk only took a few minutes. Now that's civilised!

Lunch at Bab al Shams892 viewsIt's great to eat outdoors -- something we don't do that often in England. Marjorie enjoying lunch on our first day at Bab al Shams, in the desert.

Marjorie Pushing The Flower Cart863 viewsIt was amazing how many fresh flowers there were at the Burj al Arab Hotel, and they were changed frequently.

Sunrise at Bab al Shams835 viewsSunrise on our last morning at Bab al Shams, before heading to Dubai Airport to catch our flight back to a cold and rainy England.

Al Quasr Hotel Lobby831 viewsPart (confusingly) of the Madinat Jumeirah Hotel. This huge chandelier was very impressive -- it looked almost like a space ship.

Madinat Souk807 viewsWith the small water taxis in the foreground. Quite a sophisticated and relaxing way to get around, even for me (since I can't walk more than about 10 feet at a time.)

Dar Al Masyaf - Daytime791 viewsThe view from our "boat stop" on the canal system at the Dar Al Masyaf villas, with Marjorie waiting for the next boat. The top of the Burj al Arab Hotel can just been seen peeking over the top of the Madinat Jumeirah.

Burj al Arab Hotel773 viewsHere the Kevlar "sail" is in its blue-green period.

Our Bedroom at the Burj al Arab -- Dubai773 viewsWith a spectacular view over the Arabian Sea. In the distance, they're constructing an artificial series of islands that will look like a palm tree. The palm tree can be seen from space. Nothing half-measure in Dubai.

Waiting to Go In The Submarine to Dinner771 viewsIn the Burj al Arab, the seafood restaurant is supposedly below the sea. To get there, you take a "submarine" that's more like a Disneyland ride. I'm in the holding area, waiting for our "submarine" to arrive. The restaurant has a huge fish tank, so it's like eating (I guess) underwater.
