The View from Our Boat Stop1024 mol gekuckt ginnDar Al Masyaf villas in Dubai. We moved from one place to another in the small boats.

Madinat Souk At Night926 mol gekuckt ginnThe streaks in the water are the lights from the small water taxis.

Dar Al Masyaf - Night Time889 mol gekuckt ginnThis is the view from our "boat stop" on the canal system at the Dar Al Masyaf villas. To get to dinner we waited for a boat to pick us up. The ride to the souk only took a few minutes. Now that's civilised!
bab-al-shams-lunch.jpg
Lunch at Bab al Shams886 mol gekuckt ginnIt's great to eat outdoors -- something we don't do that often in England. Marjorie enjoying lunch on our first day at Bab al Shams, in the desert.
burj-flowers.jpg
Marjorie Pushing The Flower Cart858 mol gekuckt ginnIt was amazing how many fresh flowers there were at the Burj al Arab Hotel, and they were changed frequently.
Bab-al-Shams-sunrise.jpg
Sunrise at Bab al Shams835 mol gekuckt ginnSunrise on our last morning at Bab al Shams, before heading to Dubai Airport to catch our flight back to a cold and rainy England.
chandelier.jpg
Al Quasr Hotel Lobby829 mol gekuckt ginnPart (confusingly) of the Madinat Jumeirah Hotel. This huge chandelier was very impressive -- it looked almost like a space ship.
souk1.jpg
Madinat Souk806 mol gekuckt ginnWith the small water taxis in the foreground. Quite a sophisticated and relaxing way to get around, even for me (since I can't walk more than about 10 feet at a time.)
boat-stop14A.jpg
Dar Al Masyaf - Daytime788 mol gekuckt ginnThe view from our "boat stop" on the canal system at the Dar Al Masyaf villas, with Marjorie waiting for the next boat. The top of the Burj al Arab Hotel can just been seen peeking over the top of the Madinat Jumeirah.
burj-front1.jpg
Burj al Arab Hotel770 mol gekuckt ginnHere the Kevlar "sail" is in its blue-green period.
Burj-bedroom.jpg
Our Bedroom at the Burj al Arab -- Dubai769 mol gekuckt ginnWith a spectacular view over the Arabian Sea. In the distance, they're constructing an artificial series of islands that will look like a palm tree. The palm tree can be seen from space. Nothing half-measure in Dubai.
burj-sunshine.jpg
Burj al Arab Hotel766 mol gekuckt ginnWith the Madinat Jumeirah "souk" to the right. This isn't a souk like the traditional souks in Istanbul and Aman, but isn't a shopping centre either. It's quite spectacular.
