burj-beach.jpg
Burj al Arab Hotel -- Dubaivista 10141 vecesPhotographed from the beach at the Madinat Jumeirah. The Burj al Arab -- Tower of the Arabs -- rises above the Arabian Sea, and was built to look like a sail. The right side of the hotel is made from Kevlar, the bullet-proof material. Look at the crowd on the beach.
camel-parade.jpg
Camel Parade Number 1vista 9291 vecesA bit like the Cow Parade that we saw in New York City. The Dar Al Masyaf had many camels throughout the gardens, all painted with a different theme. This camel has a Dubai theme.
burj-seafood.jpg
Underwater Seafood Restaurant -- Burj al Arab Hotelvista 5807 vecesThe view from our table at the underwater seafood restaurant. I don't think we were really underwater, but there was a large tank of salt water fish to keep us entertained as we ate their cousins.
burj-breakfast.jpg
Breakfast at the Burj al Arab Hotelvista 5508 vecesMarjorie having breakfast. We were surrounded by plants from Hawaii (or from tropical islands) like the naupaka. The poor things were struggling: I suspect the humidity is too low in Dubai, or it's too hot -- or both.
burj-lobby.jpg
Atrium of Burj al Arab Hotelvista 5422 vecesPhotographed from the lower lobby, looking up through the fountains and the large gold columns. They love gold in the Burj al Arab!
burj-bar.jpg
Burj al Arab Cocktail Loungevista 5420 vecesThis colourful cocktail lounge actually sticks out from near the top of the Burj al Arab hotel. So we were actually hundreds of feet above the Arabian Sea.
burj-bathtub.jpg
Our Bathtub -- Burj al Arab Hotelvista 5187 vecesOur suite (all rooms at the Burj al Arab Hotel are suites) covered two floors, with a long curving staircase connecting the floors. We had a large shower and a big round bath tub, complete with a painting of Dubai.
camel.jpg
Camel Parade Number 2vista 5147 vecesAnother camel in the Camel Parade, in the gardens of the Dar Al Masyaf hotel.
date-garden.jpg
Marjorie in the Gardenvista 5025 vecesA date palm garden in an inner courtyard at the Bab Al Shams Hotel, in the desert in Dubai.
burj-lobby-nite.jpg
Interior of Burj al Arab Hotelvista 4588 vecesThere's a light show in the evening in the tall, open atrium of the Burj al Arab hotel, with things projected on the inside of the large Kevlar "sail" that makes up one side of the hotel.
fruit-and-veg.jpg
Fruit and Veg -- Dubai Stylevista 3585 vecesThis huge display of fresh fruit and veg was at the entrance to the desert restaurant -- built to look like an old fort -- at the Bab al Shams Hotel.
burj-view.jpg
Burj al Arab Hotelvista 2524 vecesThe Burj al Arab Hotel -- Tower of the Arabs -- rises above the Madinat Jumeirah. We spent our first night in Dubai at the Burj al Arab, and then spent three nights in a villa suite in Dar Al Masyaf, part of the Madinat Jumeirah. (I found this part confusing, too.)
