Cao Dai Temple, Viet Nam890 katselua"Indigenous to Vietnam Cao Dai is a fusion of the best from Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism, with Christianity and Islam thrown in for good measure. Cao Daoism was founded in Vietnam only as recently as the 1920's as the answer to the ultimate ideal religion and insists that its' earth-based intermediaries or messengers include such luminaries as William Shakespeare, Joan of Arc and Napoleon Bonaparte."

Nordkapp - North Cape - Norway887 katseluaThe midnight sun (photographed at midnight) from the most northerly part of Europe. "The North Cape was named by English explorer Richard Chancellor in 1553 when he passed the cape in the search for a Northeast passage. From then on, it was occasionally visited by daring explorers who climbed the steep cliff face to the plateau; famous visitors include King Oscar II of Norway in 1873 and Thailand's King Chulalongkorn in 1907. Today, the North Cape is a major tourist attraction."

British Airways Jet Taking Off from Heathrow887 katseluaWe were at the 2006 Wag and Bone Show at Windsor Great Park, which (I suppose) is tecnically part of Windsor Castle. The park is in the flight path of Heathrow, with planes flying overhead every few minutes.

Big and Little Clowns, Germany884 katseluaSomewhere in Germany -- probably Baden Baden. I've never liked clowns: I find them unsettling. And here are two of them, big and little.

Statue of Liberty from the Deck of the QE2879 katseluaArriving in New York City by large ocean liner is thrilling. This was a warm spring day, April 1991. It was the first crossing of the year for the QE2 and we were a day late because we encountered 55 foot waves in the North Atlantic. The Statue of Liberty is in the distance.

Marjorie in Aman, Jordan874 katseluaOn our Concorde trip to Jordan - my 40th birthday present.

Marjorie and the Viet Cong in the Cu Chi Tunnels873 katseluaThe Cu Chi tunnels, a 75-mile-long underground maze where thousands of fighters and villagers could hide, are at the top of the list of tourist spots for Ho Chi Minh City. Marjorie was able to crawl through the lower levels (I'm too big). There was also this "photo op" spot, complete with fake rice bowls.

Steve Patch and Ann Heward at the Supper Club873 katseluaI read about the Supper Club in Amsterdam in Conde Nast Traveller and we made reservations. At that time you ate on large beds. The restaurant didn't have its name on the door, wasn't in the telephone directory, and the concierge in our hotel had never heard of it. The new Supper Club website looks very swish, but perhaps not as much fun.

Taking a stroll across the bridge854 katseluaThis bridge fords the River Rhine. It is right next to the Hyatt Hotel and is a pedestrian and rail bridge. Here we are off into Cologne for an evening meal of German food.

The View From Our Hotel in Northern Norway840 katseluaThe brown industrial building is the rest of our hotel. We were in the "annex" on the top of the hill. Can you imagine four (or so) months of cold darkness here?

Marjorie at a Roadside Restaurant in Viet Nam837 katseluaWe just stopped by the side of the road, and this "restaurant" was in essentially a tent. We had a delicious meal, and didn't get sick. And then we go to La Mamounia in Morocco, pay a fortune for our room and meals, and get food poisoning. Ironic.

Chase at the Sandy Lane Hotel, Barbados836 katseluaI'd just purchased a new Nikonos V underwater camera, and Chase and I were trying it out in the shallow water in front of our hotel, the Sandy Lane. Summer 1992, before starting our Windstar cruise.
