Big Hands in the Marriott627 viewsI took a photography course, run at the Marriott Airport Hotel in Manchester. Bless Marjorie --- she drove me up, and read magazines and newspapers while I attended the two-day course. I took this photo with my wide-angle lens while we were waiting for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Magnolia Blossom - Whitecroft626 viewsI love Magnolias. Great, huge, pure white flowers. It's a shame that they seem to fall apart so quickly, so it's hard to bring them in the house for a big floral display. (Unless there's some secret that only Southern belles learn, while drinking juleps.) This magnolia bud is in our large tree, Whitecroft, on a hot summer afternoon.

Overhanging Shrubs626 viewsOverhanging shrubs at the front of the Cider Mill, Colletts Green Road, Powick. The vertical yellow line shows the property line. The verge is completely gone -- and the shrubs are overhanging the road surface itself.

Wisteria - Whitecroft625 viewsI've always been disappointed by our Wisteria vine. It seems to bloom late (if at all) and then it's not very nice. I think we made the mistake of putting it on a north-facing wall. This year, 2004, the flowers were the best I've seen. But still not as good as others I've seen. Perhaps 2005?
