In Bed at 140 Dowsett Avenue1379 viewsMe (on the left), Shauna (the baby), and Nana. My guess is late 1955. This isn't the best photograph -- no faces showing. I've included it anyway because I thought the bedside table is interesting. I love the old dial telephone, the 1950's shoji lamps. But my favourite thing is the bottle of lager and cigarettes. I never remember my grandmother drinking --- but larger! How images can be shattered through the magnification power of Adobe Photoshop.

In The Garden -- Dowsett Avenue3140 viewsI'm playing with cut flowers. I'd guess this is late 1949 or early 1950, taken in the garden at 140 Dowsett Avenue. The great expanse of lawn and garden that ultimately became (sadly) 156 Dowsett Avenue.

Pushing A Lawn Mower420 viewsThe Health and Safety people would be thrilled to see me pushing what appears to be a gas-operated lawn mower --- with no shoes. Makes my toes curl even now, over half a century later.

Orchids308 viewsI've always loved orchids. Here I am, in the dirt at Dowsett Avenue, surrounded by orchids. Circa 1950.

Whitecroft Sunset - 5 August 2005229 viewsOur neighbor farmer, Thomas Hawkins, planted a cereal crop on the field next to Whitecroft. With it all rolled up nicely into bundles, Marjorie, Tapa, and I went to have a look at the big rolls at sunset. Whitecroft is just visible in the trees.
