Marjorie and night vision gogglesvu 5786 foisWe purchased these Russian-made night vision goggles at a Photokina show in 1996 or so. They were impossible to wear and to use. With all the publicity surrounding night vision during Gulf War II, we decided it was time to eBay them. Poor Marjorie got to be the night vision goggle model.

Punahou Carnival "O" Menvu 1268 foisThe "O" Men were very gracious about allowing us to sell our poi products at the Punahou Carnival. Of course, we gave them 100% of the proceeds. But it was a lot of fun, gave us good exposure, and was for a good cause.

Severn Bore - 2003vu 952 foisWe'd lived near the River Severn for a long time and had never seen the Severn Bore. It's a big wave that comes up river usually once each month. Customarily, only two of the annual bores are really big --- and this was one of them. We had breakfast at (where else?) the Severn Bore Pub.

Surfin' the Severn Borevu 870 foisThis is the large wave (bore) coming up stream, photographed from the Severn Bore Pub. They actually surf the wave, and ride kayaks, etc. Marjorie and I were surprised (although I don't know why) at how muddy the water was. Guess this isn't Makaha.

Severn Bore - Awaiting Breakfast and Wavevu 1068 foisWe made breakfast reservations at the Severn Bore Pub and got up really early. The plan was to have breakfast-then-bore, but they were so crowded we had to wait until after the "event" to have our fry-up.

Chase and my Teddy Bearvu 1234 foisI think this is a great picture of Chase, and it's the last known photo of my teddy. The teddy was purchased at the gift shop in Kapiolani Maternity Hospital the day I was born. It had a red felt tounge and wooden eyes. It went with me to university (my mother hid it in my suitcase). When Marjorie and I moved to the U.K. in 1986, Chase asked if she could keep it. And then my ex-wife, the Rev. Marcia, made Chase give it away. Lost teddies. Stinky ex-wives.

A rose from outside our kitchen window, Whitecroftvu 1066 foisKevin planted three rose bushes outside the kitchen at Whitecroft, and they bloom 10 months out of each year. And when they're not blooming, they drop these great pink petals on our parsley and chives.
