Highland Cow and Calf1732 katseluaA misty Easter morning at Birchfields. Kevin was showing Marjorie and me the week-end "ropes" so we could check on the cattle in his absence. I'm not sure I was a great apprentice, since I brought my camera to record the moment.%10.%04.%2004

Marjorie and Cranberry1133 katseluaWe hatched Cranberry ourselves last summer. When the other turkeys came (we bought them from a hatchery) Cranberry looked horrified. After a few weeks she became friends with them, but at Christmas they went away, one at a time. Cranberry looked so lonely, so we bought her 10 friends. But she seems to prefer our company to that of the other turkeys. She comes running after us, and then crouches down to be rubbed.1 kommenttia%10.%04.%2004

Three Old Gentleman898 katseluaThese three old gentlemen --- Batman, Brad, and McVit --- are all that's left from our small herd of alpacas. We decided, after our visit to Peru, that nobody in their right mind would pay 4,000 or more for an animal that has one cria a year (if you're lucky) and can produce enough fibre for a 45 sweater each season. But they sure are cute.%10.%04.%2004

Turkey Stag1013 katseluaGood Friday morning, 2004. One of our new Bronze Turkey stags, purchased from mid-Wales last week.%09.%04.%2004
Tamworth2.jpg
The Tamworth Two956 katseluaGood Friday, 2004. These two Tamworth pigs --- sisters --- recently arrived at Lucies Farm from the City of Gloucester. They are enjoying the green grass of spring, but won't take long to convert it into mud.%09.%04.%2004
tamowrth1.jpg
The Tamworth One852 katseluaOne of our three new Tamworth ladies. The grass is still green --- they've only been on it for three days. In three weeks it will be a sea of mud. As they've been raised by the City of Gloucester in a "petting zoo" environment, they're very easy to handle.%09.%04.%2004
piggiewiggie.jpg
Pigs in a Line929 katseluaGood Friday morning, 2004. The pigs are in a nice chorus line, from left to right: the "original" Kune Kune, the Kune - Gloucester Old Spot cross (how did that happen?), the sinister Iron Age pig (now quite an elderly lady), and the Sinister - GOS cross.%09.%04.%2004
