Stable Gate at Lucies Farm367 viewsLooking from the latch end towards the motor. This motor, installed in early 2005 to replace an earlier motor, is mounted on a separate, metal gate post, and it opens and closes the gate (or at least it did, before it was broken by the windstorm) using the metal arm.

Latch on Stable Gate354 viewsThis Came electronic latch was installed by Automation Gates in early 2005. The stable gate is exposed to direct wind, and the installers indicated that the wind on the gate was breaking the arm that connected the gate with the motor. At the same time, the motor was replaced with a different --- and presumably better --- motor. The latch meant that when the gate closed it would be supported, against the wind, on both ends. But the latch didn't always engage --- usually because of the wind.

Stable Gate at Lucies Farm355 viewsPhotographed from the stable yard, looking down our track (with Gregorz manually latching the gate). The motor that should open and close the gate is on the right in this photograph. As is shown, the gate is exposed to the elements, and wind coming down the track and from the neighbour's field hits the gate staight on.

Electronic Innards of Stable Gate243 viewsI asked Gregorz to please remove the cover to the stable gate equipment this afternoon, and this is what we found. I believe this is the radio-control equipment, as well as a step-down transformer for the gate motor. It's been mounted about eight inches above the ground, but is always covered by a thick black cover. Gregorz had to remove a few screws to reveal the "innards."

Note Left on Dashboard344 viewsNote left on the dashboard of the Truckman. When the vehicle was recovered, the note vanished --- but fortunately I'd photographed it beforehand.

The Truckman on Crookbarrow Road338 viewsWe had to abandon the Truckman here on the Friday night of the great rainstorm of 2007. We then had all sorts of problems with MMA, the insurance company that we pay for rescue/recovery services. I spent an hour in the Truckman, in the pouring rain, waiting for MMA to answer their 24/7 help line. They never did.

Marjorie and the Truckman289 viewsMarjorie was trying to inspect the damage to the rear right-hand side of the Truckman, but Crookbarrow Road is very, very busy --- it's the main route from Malvern to Junction 7 on the M5.

Marjorie and the Truckman597 viewsThis photograph shows how quickly, and close, vehicles are to the stranded Truckman. We became stranded at about 4:30 PM on Friday, and the vehicle was finally recovered (after dozens of telephone calls) on Tuesday afternoon --- despite the fact it was in a dangerous location. MMA Insurance did a truly awful job of assisting us with the rescue and recovery.

Crookbarrow Road and the Truckman583 viewsShowing the position of the Truckman, heading towards the M5 from Malvern on Crookbarrow Road. The police put up cones and put lots of yellow crime scene tape on the Truckman, presumably after another driver rear-ended it.

Close-Up of Damage to Truckman291 viewsThe right rear side of the Truckman, showing the damage to the vehicle and tyre. I'm told that the "springs" are damaged --- I didn't even know cars had "springs." This was photographed on the transporter, just as the Truckman was beginning its last journey . . .
