Cattle Having Their Dinner705 viewsNot quite a family portrait. The bull in the foreground, Rull Ballet Cruz, is an Aberdeen Angus. The calf and cow (her mother, Betty) are Gloucester cattle. Enjoying dinner on the 4 Acre Field, summer, July 10 2005.

Lord's Wood Cottage Extension705 viewsThe new metal extension on Lord's Wood cottage. This photograph is taken from the east, looking slightly north-west. The extension is shown coming right up to the fence line, which we believe encroaches upon our property. The height of the extension can be estimated using Marjorie's height (5'6").

Farewell lunch!705 viewsEmilia (in the green sweater) had been with us for 18 months and was off to pastures new - York to be exact. She was a fun colleague and we will miss her. Here Grzegorz, Zbigniew, Christopher and Elizabeth wish her well. Craig and I were outnumbered by our Polish colleagues!!

Stable Gate at Lucies Farm705 viewsLooking from the latch end towards the motor. This motor, installed in early 2005 to replace an earlier motor, is mounted on a separate, metal gate post, and it opens and closes the gate (or at least it did, before it was broken by the windstorm) using the metal arm.

Latch on Stable Gate705 viewsThis Came electronic latch was installed by Automation Gates in early 2005. The stable gate is exposed to direct wind, and the installers indicated that the wind on the gate was breaking the arm that connected the gate with the motor. At the same time, the motor was replaced with a different --- and presumably better --- motor. The latch meant that when the gate closed it would be supported, against the wind, on both ends. But the latch didn't always engage --- usually because of the wind.
