The Great January 2004 Storm333 viewsWe'd been warned for several days (including full page newspaper articles) that the Great Storm was coming. And, of course, the weather was beautiful. But the storm finally hit on January 28 2004, and lasted precisely ten minutes. This is our front garden at Whitecroft viewed through the snow.

Pigs in a Line330 viewsGood Friday morning, 2004. The pigs are in a nice chorus line, from left to right: the "original" Kune Kune, the Kune - Gloucester Old Spot cross (how did that happen?), the sinister Iron Age pig (now quite an elderly lady), and the Sinister - GOS cross.

Maggot's Croft - Snow Sky330 viewsFebruary 20 2005. The weather folks have been warning us about the snow storm that's coming for the past few days. It seems to always be coming tomorrow. This was taken at about 4:30 PM on Sunday afternoon, and it was cold outside. A snow sky? We'll see.

J. Causs Mirror - Candlestick Centrepiece330 viewsWe purchased this in Buenos Aires, Argentina about ten years ago for the New York apartment. As we've sold the NYC apartment, this young lady doesn't really fit into Whitecroft -- so we've put her on eBay. Marjorie and I had fun taking this photograph: how do you get the mirror to look reflective, but not reflect the camera, ceiling, lights, etc.

My Leica R8 35mm Single Lens Reflex Camera330 viewsI've been waiting for the Leica Digital Modul R to come out so that I could convert my Leica R8 to a digital camera. But the wait seems endless, and the recent review in Amateur Photographer wasn't stellar. So off to eBay. I can still use my Leica lenses on my Canon EOS 1D Mark II digital camera.

Magnolias - Whitecroft329 viewsI love magnolias, especially the big white ones you find all over the place in the U.S. south --- "grandaflora" I think they're called. This year the "English" magnolias have been gorgeous. I don't know if this is because of our hot summer in 2003. Whatever the reason, they're beautiful.

Marjorie and Cathy - Heathrow327 viewsCathy leaving to return to Australia after her two-week visit. Her Singapore Airlines flight delayed by two hours. We went to Sbarro as it was all that was open. I wanted spaghetti with meatballs, but they only had the meatballs. So I had meat lasagna, and the kind Sbarro man cut a meatball in quarters and hid it under my lasagna. The girls had vegetable lasagna which they ate in full, despite the absence of a smuggled meatball.

Artichoke and Mint323 viewsWe got lost one day going to Coventry (or somepleace awful) and we found the National Herb Centre. They had the most wonderful, big, silver-green plants that turned out to be artichoke plants. Ours didn't grow anywhere as large, yet. But fresh artichokes from the garden are great. We've surrounded the little artichoke plant with mint. Whitecroft, on a warm Spring day in April, 2004.
