Underwater Pigvu 3045 foisTo take the swimming Tamworth pig photo, the pig had to be gently pushed into the heated pool. Marjorie, in full SCUBA gear and with an underwater camera and strobe, waited for the pig to, er, fall. I was surprised at how quickly the pig sank. He then soared to the surface, like a submarine in a Sean Connery movie that's blown its ballast.

Underwater Pigvu 2097 foisThe Tamworth pig, viewed from underwater, swimming around the pool. Taken by Marjorie --- dressed in full SCUBA gear and with an underwater Nikonos V camera. The reflection is the surface of the water, viewed from below.

Waiting to Go In The Submarine to Dinnervu 278 foisIn the Burj al Arab, the seafood restaurant is supposedly below the sea. To get there, you take a "submarine" that's more like a Disneyland ride. I'm in the holding area, waiting for our "submarine" to arrive. The restaurant has a huge fish tank, so it's like eating (I guess) underwater.

Marjorie Waiting for Dinnervu 362 foisWe were going to the "underwater" seafood restaurant in the Burj al Arab hotel. You need to wait in this area for your "submarine" (a bit of a Disney-esque ride) to take you underwater and out into the ocean to the submerged restaurant.

Underwater Seafood Restaurant -- Burj al Arab Hotelvu 5401 foisThe view from our table at the underwater seafood restaurant. I don't think we were really underwater, but there was a large tank of salt water fish to keep us entertained as we ate their cousins.

Me Doing My Underwater Navigation Testvu 196 foisOn a wrecked barge in the Red Sea, 1996. We chartered an Egyptian live-aboard boat and brought along three diving instructors (two from England, and Grant Graves from Malibu). We were able to dive three and four times each day, and each dive was a lesson. At the end of the trip, we all had dozens of PADI certification cards!
