Scottish | Kobe Topside with Home Grown Veggiesvu 9160 foisBeestings is the first milk from a cow (otherwise called colostrum). We've just acquired a "house" cow, Carole. She has a new calf, but there's plenty of colostrum. A farm treat is beestings Yorkshire pudding. So Marjorie made them --- and what better to have with a slow-cooked, tender Scottish | Kobe roast and vegetables grown here at Lucies Farm.1 commentaires

Bracken With A Poorly Pawvu 293 foisBracken had just been on his 1 1/2 hour afternoon walk, and we took him for a run around the garden. He was fine, and then suddenly started to favour his left paw. We checked it carefully and no sign of pain or distress. In about an hour he was fine -- so our theory is that it was stinging nettle.

Yellow-Jacket Waspvu 178 foisWe seem to have a wasps' next in the ground next to Kea's and Pau's bench. I took about a dozen photos --- this is the only one where the wasp is in focus. There's actually a guide on the internet to tell you what the markings mean. I think they mean "nasty -- avoid." Apparently you can freeze the nest, or pour boiling water down the opening. As if!

Picanha Steaks on the Grillvu 856 foisIt's important not to pierce or cut them when they're cooking --- that will keep in the majority of the jucies. The fat in grain-fed beef (and ours is certainly grain-fed) melts at a lower temperature than the fat in grass-fed beef. One food critic described Kobe beef as "self-basting." These steaks were delicious!
