Tamworth Boar, Waiting for the VetПросмотров: 6786The best way we could think of isolating the Tamwroth boar so the vet could check his back leg was to lure him into the stock trailer with food. In the end, he managed to push open the metal gate and escape.

The Vet Giving our Tamworth Boar an InjectionПросмотров: 5014Ann Carman, from The White House Vets in Malvern, comes out on a Saturday and Sunday to see our Tamworth boar. He's a bit lame, but Ann found nothing in his paw (trotter?) and no apparent broken bones. An injection of a pain killer and some antibiotic is needed, but the first bends Ann's needle. Big tries to keep the boar in place while Ann tries again with a stronger needle.Комментариев: 2

Picanha Steaks on the GrillПросмотров: 1744Picanha is a cut of beef in Brazil that is generally considered to be the best part of the cow, even better than the fillet. Picanha (pick-ahn-yeh) is a Portuguese word, without direct translation into English. Brazilians travelling to the U.K. are often surprised to discover that what they consider to be a prime delicacy is divided among other cuts by British butchers.

Picanha Steaks on the GrillПросмотров: 856It's important not to pierce or cut them when they're cooking --- that will keep in the majority of the jucies. The fat in grain-fed beef (and ours is certainly grain-fed) melts at a lower temperature than the fat in grass-fed beef. One food critic described Kobe beef as "self-basting." These steaks were delicious!

Colin Thomas and Silas Getting Ready to PhotographПросмотров: 260Colin Thomas was looking for someone who could build a large bonfire for a photo shoot. His timing was perfect: it's the time of year when most people cut the leylandii hedges and other trees. Colin and his assistant Silas etting up in the field next to the entrance to Lord's Wood.

Ben and Jed Building the Bonfire at Lord's WoodПросмотров: 172The mission was to build a bonfire whose flames would leap up the top. This became known as the "Wall of Fire Project." We used leylandii cuttings, both from the front garden at Whitecroft and from other tree surgeons working in the area. Ben and Jed are unloading the last bit of cuttings from the trailer.
