Cao Dai Temple, Viet Nam373 x angesehen"Indigenous to Vietnam Cao Dai is a fusion of the best from Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism, with Christianity and Islam thrown in for good measure. Cao Daoism was founded in Vietnam only as recently as the 1920's as the answer to the ultimate ideal religion and insists that its' earth-based intermediaries or messengers include such luminaries as William Shakespeare, Joan of Arc and Napoleon Bonaparte."

Cao Dai Temple, Viet Nam440 x angesehen"Cao Dai actually means "palace or high tower", which is suitably apt. Built in 1927, the massive nine-story Cao Dai Temple is part cathedral and part pagoda. It is also a rude assault on your eyeballs."

Cao Dai Temple, Viet Nam304 x angesehen"The central philosophy of Cao Daism pertains to the duty that the faithful perform for themselves, their family, society and the world at large. Much like Confucianism, this element of the Philosophy pertains to how the individual functions within the context of the community."

Huey Helicopter at the Cu Chi Tunnels, Viet Nam2623 x angesehenThis old Huey UH-1 was at the entrance to the Cu Chi tunnels in Viet Nam. Our guide felt very awkward about this --- and I'd be surprised if it's still there.

Marjorie With a Tank at the Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam213 x angesehenWe read about this museum and were curious. We had to specifically ask our guide to take us. There was nobody else there. The whole museum was dusty and forgotten, something left over (barely) from another time, another place. I'd be surprised if it's still there.

Cao Dai Temple Eye - Tay Ninh, Viet Nam5116 x angesehen"There are eyes throughout the massive temple that stare down, unblinkingly. The eye symbolizes God as He appeared in the first vision establishing the Cao Dai faith in 1926."

Cao Dai Temple -- Tay Ninh, Viet Nam5611 x angesehenShowing the altar and the unblinking eye, which "symbolises the divine presence of God."

Cao Dai Temple -- Tay Ninh, Viet Nam847 x angesehenFor more information click here. The official website, as best I can tell, is here. Marjorie and I visited the temple, which is near Ho Chi Minh City, on our visit to Viet Nam.
