Pile of Scalpings and Hard Corevista 138 vecesA day of rest. Constructing a solid path to the wild boar field, and putting a dry (drained) hard standing beneath the pig arcs.

The Path to the Pig Arcsvista 119 vecesThe hard core has been put beneath the pig arcs (in the distance) but needs to be compacted on Monday. The last part to be finished is the hard core road from the stable yard (where this was photographed) to the pig arcs.

A Work In Progressvista 119 vecesIn the first paddock at Maggot's Croft. The path that's being built is straight ahead. The large groove on the right was made by the construction equipment going back and forth through the paddock.

It will take some time to smooth this outvista 105 vecesMud (clay) in the first paddock at Maggot's Croft, as they work on building the hard standing for the wild boar pig arcs.

Almost a mini-canalvista 103 vecesAs the ground is clay, we could almost use this groove (made by the construction equpment) as a small stream to take water to the pigs.

One of the two deep rutsvista 118 vecesThis is one of the two deep ruts made by the construction equipment going back and forth into the second paddock, bringing hard core and scalpings for the "floor" of the wild boar pig arcs.

The path into the pig arcsvista 199 vecesThe pig arcs are located on the upper part of the field, so the water should drain away. The hard core will be compacted on Monday.

The hard standing beneath the pig arcsvista 204 vecesNot yet compacted with the roller --- a task for Monday.

Straw ready for the wild boars' beddingvista 132 vecesThe wild boar are temporarily in the third paddock. When the hard core has been compacted, we will move the remaining two pig arcs and then give them all a fresh bed of straw.

Pig arcs on the new hard corevista 134 vecesThe hard core has not yet been compacted. The clay (on the right of the photograph) has been "repaired" by the construction team, but it won't take long for the wild boar to add their own special touch.

The "repaired" clay at Maggot's Croftvista 115 vecesIn the second paddock. The construction of the hard core made quite a mess, but the construction team made quite an effort to smooth out the clay. It looks a bit like a lava flow in Hawaii.

Lava Flow? No it's just clay in sunny Worcestershirevista 272 vecesThe clay in the second paddock at Maggot's Croft. The construction team did a good job of smoothing it --- they really had to dig it up when building the hard core foundation for the wild boar arcs.
