Ho Chi Minh City "Museum of War Remnants" with a HelicopterПросмотров: 244From the New York Times of July 1999: "The city's Museum of War Remnants, with its displays of captured weapons and its catalog of horrors, only recently amended its name, with changing times, from the Museum of American War Crimes." We were there before it changed its name. Our guide didn't want to take us, and felt very awkward about it all.

Marjorie With a Tank at the Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet NamПросмотров: 213We read about this museum and were curious. We had to specifically ask our guide to take us. There was nobody else there. The whole museum was dusty and forgotten, something left over (barely) from another time, another place. I'd be surprised if it's still there.

The View From Our Hotel in Northern NorwayПросмотров: 287The brown industrial building is the rest of our hotel. We were in the "annex" on the top of the hill. Can you imagine four (or so) months of cold darkness here?

Unblinking Eye -- Cao Dai Temple, Viet NamПросмотров: 6237The unblinking eye is the symbol of the Cao Dai faith, founded in 1926 in Viet Nam. "Cao Dai venerates a host of different figures including Victor Hugo, Sun Yat Sen, and Trangh Trinh, a 16th century Vietnamese poet and philosopher. Its ethics are based in the belief in the reincarnation of the soul." There are 7 to 8 million adherents, mostly in Viet Nam.

norweigan-fijord.jpg
Norweigan FijordПросмотров: 588Photographed on our vacation in Norway. One of the things that surprised us was that the place was deserted --- even though it was summer. Where was everyone? There's a glacier in the "V" in the background.Комментариев: 2
