Marjorie and the Viet Cong in the Cu Chi Tunnels339 viewsThe Cu Chi tunnels, a 75-mile-long underground maze where thousands of fighters and villagers could hide, are at the top of the list of tourist spots for Ho Chi Minh City. Marjorie was able to crawl through the lower levels (I'm too big). There was also this "photo op" spot, complete with fake rice bowls.

Cu Chi Tunnels, Viet Nam303 views"The tunnels themselves are undeniably impressive. Throughout the war, the South Vietnamese Communists, or Vietcong, continually expanded the three-level network, which included mess halls, meeting rooms, an operating theater and even a tiny cinema."

Cao Dai Temple, Viet Nam373 views"Indigenous to Vietnam Cao Dai is a fusion of the best from Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism, with Christianity and Islam thrown in for good measure. Cao Daoism was founded in Vietnam only as recently as the 1920's as the answer to the ultimate ideal religion and insists that its' earth-based intermediaries or messengers include such luminaries as William Shakespeare, Joan of Arc and Napoleon Bonaparte."

Cao Dai Temple, Viet Nam440 views"Cao Dai actually means "palace or high tower", which is suitably apt. Built in 1927, the massive nine-story Cao Dai Temple is part cathedral and part pagoda. It is also a rude assault on your eyeballs."

Cao Dai Temple, Viet Nam304 views"The central philosophy of Cao Daism pertains to the duty that the faithful perform for themselves, their family, society and the world at large. Much like Confucianism, this element of the Philosophy pertains to how the individual functions within the context of the community."

Nordkapp - Norway377 viewsMarjorie, Chase, and her friend Mandy at Nordkapp -- theoretically the most northern part of Europe. This photograph was taken at midnight, hence the yellow glow of the midnight sun.

Nordkapp - North Cape - Norway403 viewsThe midnight sun (photographed at midnight) from the most northerly part of Europe. "The North Cape was named by English explorer Richard Chancellor in 1553 when he passed the cape in the search for a Northeast passage. From then on, it was occasionally visited by daring explorers who climbed the steep cliff face to the plateau; famous visitors include King Oscar II of Norway in 1873 and Thailand's King Chulalongkorn in 1907. Today, the North Cape is a major tourist attraction."

Marjorie, our Guide, and a Huey UH-1 Helicoper473 viewsAt the entrance to the Cu Chi tunnels, they had an old Huey helicopter in a sort of concrete pit, surrounded by rusting barbed wire.

Huey Helicopter at the Cu Chi Tunnels, Viet Nam2623 viewsThis old Huey UH-1 was at the entrance to the Cu Chi tunnels in Viet Nam. Our guide felt very awkward about this --- and I'd be surprised if it's still there.

Marjorie, Chase, and Mandy in Hammerfest, Norway359 viewsHammerfest is one of the most northern cities in the world. That's not a real polar bear in the photograph...

Marjorie at a Roadside Restaurant in Viet Nam294 viewsWe just stopped by the side of the road, and this "restaurant" was in essentially a tent. We had a delicious meal, and didn't get sick. And then we go to La Mamounia in Morocco, pay a fortune for our room and meals, and get food poisoning. Ironic.
