Japanese maple outside my window: with the long summer days, the sun really shines in during the afternoon, but I don't like to shut the blinds.

Japanese Maple & Japanese Lantern195 katseluaThe maple is planted outside my office window to keep the (rare) summer sunlight out of my eyes. It seems to be taking over. The Japanese lantern is from outside our Makaiwa Street home in Hawaii, from the 1960's and 1970's.

Whitecroft Garden - Red Rose167 katseluaEveryone takes photographs of roses, particularly red roses. I was taking photos of doggies when I saw this rose tucked away in the garden, near the pear trees.

The Fresh Garden Salad, McDonald's Style219 katseluaMarjorie and I had to pick up some paint -- and I wanted lunch. Marjorie normally doesn't let me go to McDonalds, but I convinced her to give it a try because of their new, healthy food. Their website talks about garden salads made "using a host of wholesome ingredients including at least 6 varieties of salad leaves." This is Marjorie's second garden salad: her first was inedible. We were told this salad was "freshly made." Hmmm.

McDonald's Fresh Garden Salad193 katseluaPhotographed on our table at the McDonald's on Hylton Road, Worcester. This is the second salad: Marjorie couldn't eat the first one. The helpful staff said this one had been "freshly made." It appears to be made from old ingredients. It certainly doesn't look like the salad pictured on their website, or at the counter.
