This motor, installed in early 2005 to replace an earlier motor, is mounted on a separate, metal gate post, and it opens and closes the gate (or at least it did, before it was broken by the windstorm) using the metal arm.

We actually paid a visit and discovered that these daisies bloom in the autumn. And, to our surprise, we have Michaelmas daisies in our garden. The brick structure is, I believe, an old chicken coop. According to our recorded title documents, our property line runs on the eastern side (left in this photograph) of the chicken coop. As shown by this photograph, the fence is quite a distance from the coop. This is being double-checked by our surveyor.
