First Floor Lobby - Andaz Liverpool Street Hotel, London1969 viewsWhen we returned to the hotel at about 11:30 PM on Sunday, there were no restaurants that were open. We were told room service was the only choice. We didn't want to have dinner in our room, so they suggested the balcony area shown in this photograph, just beneath the dusty palm trees. Up a long flight of stairs --- very difficult for me to climb.

British Bulldog794 viewsI frequently point out to my English wife that the symbol of the United States is the bald Eagle -- free, majestic, soaring. And the symbol of Great Britain? Why the Bulldog, of course . . .

Marmaduke's Hotel, York and Impractical Beds191 viewsMarjorie looking through the rather silly bull's eye in the foot of the over-large double bed in our room at Marmaduke's Hotel in York. Please note the TV on the right in this picture. You can't watch TV from bed without looking through the bars at the foot of the bed.

Green and Blue294 viewsWhen I was a kid, I had a typewriter ribbon that was blue and green (or maybe it was purple and green) --- rather than black and red. These two plants in our garden remind me of that old typewriter.

Nevsky Prospect - St. Petersburg4587 viewsTo cross the street in either direction on Nevsky Prospect -- one of the main streets in St. Petersburg -- you need to go into this pedestrian underpass. When we did so, on a bright spring afternoon (our wedding anniversary), my camera was stolen. I'd just entered the underpass, and as my eyes adjusted to the gloom someone bumped into me quite hard, and I knew my camera was gone when my left shoulder suddenly didn't feel the weight. But there was a crowd, and no obvious villan.

Wisteria Vine at Whitecroft132 viewsThe vine is on a north-facing wall, so it doesn't bloom as much as we'd like --- and it blooms quite late in the season. But it is gorgeous.

Sunapee Harbor - New Hampshire4077 viewsWe took the dogs for a Memorial Day drive. In the middle of the countryside we saw a small sign pointing to Sunapee Harbor. Although miles from the sea, we found this lovely "seaside" New England harbor, complete with a seafood restaurant on the water. Gorgeous.May 28, 2012
