| Lucies FarmAt Lucies Farm -- in sunny Worcestershire, England -- we raise pedigree Aberdeen Angus and Highland cattle in the traditional Japanese Kobe style to produce quality beef. We also have an elite dog resort, catering to a handful of exclusive dogs. And we make a range of dog food and dog treats -- even haddock ice cream and a doggie birthday cake. |

Replacement "Red Wax" Pears from Solstice in London195 viewsThese are the replacement pears sent to us by Solstice --- they don't look much better than the original "Red Wax" pears. They were virtually inedible --- fell apart in a matter of a day. After a delay, Solstice refunded the purchase price.

Michaelmas Daisies - Whitecroft Garden305 viewsI'd never even heard of a Michaelmas Daisy until I spotted a road sign in Malvern one day pointing to the National Michaelmas Daisy Collection. We actually paid a visit and discovered that these daisies bloom in the autumn. And, to our surprise, we have Michaelmas daisies in our garden. Here are some just outside our front lounge, blooming in October.

Nevsky Prospect - St. Petersburg4587 viewsTo cross the street in either direction on Nevsky Prospect -- one of the main streets in St. Petersburg -- you need to go into this pedestrian underpass. When we did so, on a bright spring afternoon (our wedding anniversary), my camera was stolen. I'd just entered the underpass, and as my eyes adjusted to the gloom someone bumped into me quite hard, and I knew my camera was gone when my left shoulder suddenly didn't feel the weight. But there was a crowd, and no obvious villan.

Sunapee Harbor - New Hampshire4088 viewsWe took the dogs for a Memorial Day drive. In the middle of the countryside we saw a small sign pointing to Sunapee Harbor. Although miles from the sea, we found this lovely "seaside" New England harbor, complete with a seafood restaurant on the water. Gorgeous.May 28, 2012
