St Petersburg, Russia

ZRussia-0123.jpg

Marjorie always wanted to visit St. Petersburg, Russia. What a beautiful place - but our trip was marred by having my camera stolen on one day on the main shopping street, and my wallet the next.

We sold our antique (circa 1944) Mark V hard hat diving helmet, made by DESCO, on eBay in July 2008. Here are the photographs we took of the helmet for our eBay listing.

Photokina 2008

Z2Q9W9680.jpg

photokina is the world's largest photographic trade fair, held every two years in Cologne. This was Marjorie's and my 5th visit to photokina. We also drove to the German state of Hesse (Hessen) to visit the hometowns of the Schoenhals, my maternal great-great-grandmother.

Adam and Eve Hotel - Belek Turkey

AdamEve-0418.jpg

In June 2009 Craig and Marjorie spent a week at the Adam and Eve Hotel in Belek, Turkey. The hotel is a pre-fab building where they've covered every interior wall with mirrors, and the outside walls with Astroturf.

Seamus Ryan Portraits

WS10_1202.jpg

Before we left the UK in October 2010 I asked Seamus Ryan -- a fellow member of the AOP -- to please take photos of Marjorie and me. We told Seamus that we were happy for him to take the photos in any way that he wanted, and these are the results. We think they're great. See more of Seamus' work at http://www.sundayshoots.com/

Marjorie's New Polo Shirt7303 viewsWe had a young Polish lady --- Agnes --- help us on the farm. She left one of Marjorie's Polo shirts to soak overnight --- but apparently soaked it in acid. She came to us from a recruitment agency, Claire Meade Ltd. They described her as "house proud." We didn't pay their fee.

Emily, Ma, and Me - Rensselaer Campus, Thanksgiving 1966819 viewsThanksgiving of my freshman year at Rensselaer --- a long way away from home in Honolulu. The family came to visit. Here we are on campus: Emily Walsh (my aunt, married to my father's brother Dinny), "Ma" (my maternal grandmother), and me. I look tremendously happy.

The Broken Water Meter149 viewsWe had a leak at a pig trough. Pavel couldn't find a way to turn off the water to the trough, so turned off all of our water. When he tried to turn it back on, he broke off the valve next to our water meter. Severn Trent came along and painted a big blue arrow and gave us some bottles of water. The pile of blocks was to try to hold down the lid to the water meter/valve.

Sunapee Harbor - New Hampshire2779 viewsWe took the dogs for a Memorial Day drive. In the middle of the countryside we saw a small sign pointing to Sunapee Harbor. Although miles from the sea, we found this lovely "seaside" New England harbor, complete with a seafood restaurant on the water. Gorgeous.May 29, 2012
